I have been to Chengdu twice, from February to July 1991 and March 2018. I was impressed that there have been major changes in many places among 30 years.

The Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding is only 10 kilometers from downtown of Chengdu including the research base and ZOO, which is very interesting and worth a visit.

Chen Mapo Doufu Dian

Mapo Tofu, or Mapo Doufu in Chinese, is a popular Chinese dish from Sichuan province. It consists of tofu set in a spicy sauce, typically a thin, oily, and bright red suspension, based on douban (fermented broad bean and chili paste) and douchi (fermented black beans), along with minced meat, traditionally beef. Chen Mapo Doufu Dian is famous for their Mapo Doufu and other local dishes of Sichuan.

Chengdu is famous for its long traditional history, beautiful scenery, and delicious Sichuan cuisine. If you know Zhu Ge Liang, Li Bai and Du Fu you should visit Chengdu at least once, I think.
